The following is a pass through of information from the Wilmette Police Department concerning two "cat" burglaries near the Kenilworth border.

 


Overnight Residential Burglary
On Tuesday, August 6th, Wilmette Police Department took reports concerning a "cat" burglary and an attempted "cat" burglary to two residences in the area west of Green Bay Rd & east of Ridge Rd and north of Lake Ave & south of Greenwood.  
 
The first one was reported at 7:40 AM and occurred between 12:00 AM and 12:30 AM in the 1500 block of Lake Ave.  The unknown offender gained entry to the house through an unlocked patio door and took a purse and wallet. 
 
The second one was reported at 9:05 AM and occurred at approximately 2:05 AM in the 1700 block of Elmwood Ave.  The unknown offender was making entry through an unlocked rear patio door when the resident encountered the subject and the offender ran away.  The resident describe the subject as possibly a male with short hair. 
 
At this time, it is unknown if the same offender commited these residential burglaries.  If you live in the above area and have a security video system, please take the time to review it for suspicious activity between the time frame of 11:30 PM on Monday, August 5th to 2:30 AM on Tuesday, August 6th.  Please contact the Wilmette Police if you recorded, heard or saw suspicious activity during the overnight hours.

 
Always lock your home & garage doors and windows. Do not leave purses and wallets in a location visible from a first floor window or door.  Immediately contact the Wilmette Police by dialing 9-1-1 if you see or hear something suspicious.
