Last night at 1:26 a.m., a Kenilworth Police Officer observed a maroon sedan in the 300 block of Leicester. The vehicle immediately fled the area as Kenilworth and Wilmette police pursued.
These offenders were observed on a Ring video system in the 200 block of Leicester at 1:20 a.m. Use the link below to see the offenders approach the vehicles in the driveway. These residents lock their car doors and the offenders quickly moved on.
The offending vehicle was last seen eastbound on the Edens Expressway (I94). Upon checking the area where the vehicle was first seen, a total of 7 unlocked vehicles in Kenilworth were discovered to have been entered and more in other communities.
The locations in Kenilworth included: one vehicle in the 300 block of Leicester, three vehicles were in the 300 block of Raleigh, one in the 200 block of Raleigh and two in the 100 block of Woodstock. Cash, credit cards and miscellaneous papers were removed from the vehicles. These incidents are occurring during the overnight hours.
These offenders are drawn to this area because easy opportunities to commit crimes exist. The best way to discourage this area from being targeted is to lock your doors and remove keys and valuables from your cars. We need your help to eliminate crimes of opportunity.
