Crime Alert

Sent: January 22, 2019

On 1/21/19 at 3:55 a.m. Officers responded to the area of the 100 block of Oxford for the report of a subject pulling on car doors.  Officers found a 64 year old female white from Chicago in the area who denied any wrongdoing.  The subject was searched but was not in possession of any burglary proceeds. It is believed this subject found two unlocked cars but nothing was discovered missing.  Footprints consistent with the subject's were found up driveways with vehicles on them on Oxford, Woodstock and Leicester.  A Leicester Road resident provided surveillance video footage showing the subject pulling on their car doors.  We want to thank the alert resident who spotted this subject, the residents who kept their car doors locked and the resident who provided video footage of the subject confirming our suspicions.  This is a great example of how a community working with their Police Department can prevent crime from occurring.

  • Always lock your vehicles.
  • Remove the keys and garage door opener - even when parked in your driveway.
  • Never leave valuable property within your vehicle.
