Crime Alert

Sent: February 18, 2018

A crime pattern continues to occur on the North Shore. Last night, in Kenilworth, 1 vehicle parked in a resident's driveway in the 100 Block of Abingdon was stolen.  The vehicle was unlocked and it is believed the key fob was inside.  Vehicles located in Wilmette and Winnetka were also burglarized overnight.  These incidents are occurring primarily, during the overnight hours. Our neighboring communities and communities in the extended area have all had vehicles stolen and burglarized as a result of these opportunists looking for unlocked vehicles.

The Police Department believes the individuals responsible are youthful offenders with street gang affiliation.  These subjects should be considered armed and dangerous.  We encourage all residents to lock your vehicle doors and remove keys and valuables. These incidents confirm that offenders are attracted to the North Shore area because these opportunities exist. We need your help to eliminate crimes of opportunity and to call 911 if you see any suspicious behavior.
