School Crossing Guard Needed

The Village of Kenilworth is seeking an adult person to fill an existing vacancy for the position of school crossing guard. School crossing guards are civilian part-time members of the Kenilworth Police Department who are assigned to direct pedestrian traffic across streets and intersections. Successful school crossing guards are reliable, responsible and display energy and enthusiasm in working with children. Exercising sound independent judgment in the conduct of work is essential.
Applicants must be dependable and available to work weekdays. School crossing guards are responsible for reporting to a designated post and safely escorting school age children across the roadway before school (7:45AM-8:20AM) and after school (3:10-3:40PM). The school crossing guard work day schedule follows the Kenilworth School District number 38 calendar, which consists of approximately 181 days.
Successful completion of all pre-employment processes is necessary. Newly hired crossing guards are also required to successfully complete a training program and a one-year probationary period.
Qualifications:
Be at least 18 years of age.
Possess a High School diploma or State Equivalency diploma.
No felony or misdemeanor offense convictions.
Must be able to communicate in English.
Must be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the job.
Must be able to handle working with children and work in a high vehicle traffic environment.
Wages:
$29.13/per day (65 minutes per day)
