Suspicious Incident Alert

This alert is being provided in order to notify residents of a suspicious incident which occurred in the area of Kenilworth Ave. and Abbotsford Rd. on October 6, 2016 at approximately 6:47 p.m. Two eighth grade girls were walking home from an event at Sears School when, they noticed a subject described as a male, white, approximately 6’00” tall, between 40 and 45 years of age, wearing a dark blue hoodie and dark sweatpants. He was observed by the girls across the street from their location, and they felt that he was watching them. As they walked home, the subject seemed to be following them by taking a circuitous route. As the girls began running home, the subject was observed running in their direction. The girls reached the safety of their home, where they advised a parent who then called the police. No one matching the description was observed by responding officers. There was no verbal communication between the subject and the girls. The Kenilworth Police Department maintains a high level of patrol visibility. Should you observe a person matching the description listed in this report, or any other suspicious activity, please contact the Kenilworth Police Department immediately.
The incident is under investigation. The Kenilworth Police Department encourages parents to use this as an opportunity to discuss safety with their children.
