Crime Alert

Sent: December 31, 2019

Earlier this morning at 2:40 a.m. a Kenilworth Police Officer on patrol observed two vehicles eastbound on Kenilworth Ave. at Sheridan Rd.  As the Officer's squad approached, the occupants of one vehicle immediately jumped into the other vehicle and fled southbound on Sheridan Rd. from Kenilworth Ave.  The Officer, along with area units, followed.  The vehicle was last seen driving southbound on the Edens Expressway.

It was later determined that the vehicle which was left behind was stolen from Wilmette.  It was also discovered that one unlocked vehicle in the 300 block of Sterling had been entered along with two unlocked vehicles in the 500 block of Exmoor.  Neighboring communities all discovered vehicles which had been entered during the overnight hours as well.

The offenders are believed to be gang members and will continue to come to the North Shore as long as there are unlocked cars for them to enter.
