Sent: December 19, 2019

Effective January 1, 2020 Public Act 101-0027 legalizing the sale, possession and use of cannabis for recreational purposes becomes law in Illinois for those 21 years of age and older.  The law however, still restricts who can possess it, where in can be used and how much can be possessed.

Some of the illegal aspects which Kenilworth Police Officers will be enforcing include:  possession under 21 years of age, using cannabis in public, using/possession in a vehicle, possession on school grounds/bus, possession of more than 30 grams, using/possession in a private residence that is used at any time to provide licensed child care, transfer/delivery of cannabis to a minor, permitting/hosting an underage cannabis party and knowingly using in close proximity to anyone under 21.
