The Village will be performing sewer lining work next week on Abbotsford Road south of Kenilworth Avenue, Sterling Road north of Wayland Avenue, and Brier Street. The project is anticipated to begin next Tuesday, September 26th, and be completed by Friday, September 29th.
The Village's contractor, Hoerr Construction, will distribute flyers to impacted residents prior to beginning the work. To help facilitate a speedy and successful project, we request that before the work begins and you live within the project area, please refrain from any heavy or discretionary wastewater-producing activities (e.g. laundry, dishwashing), and limit bathroom use for approximately 12 hours.
It is possible that during the installation of the liner, you may detect a plastic or sewer odor in the area or in your home. The odor should dissipate within a few hours. Prior to the work beginning, it is recommended to pour a couple of gallons of water, with a cup of vegetable oil, down your basement floor drain.
It is also recommended to keep your toilet lids closed.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the project, please give us a call at (847) 251-1666 or email us at info@vok.org.
