Given the significant amount of snow the Village has received this winter already, and with more snow on the way, we want to share information on the Village's snow removal operations. When snowfall is in excess of 3", crews will plow the sidewalks after the streets have been plowed and salted. To clear the sidewalks, crews utilize a utility vehicle with a mounted plow. During these events, priority will first be given to school routes, then the business district, followed by the remaining neighborhood sidewalks. The goal of the department is to maintain a passable sidewalk system.
Unfortunately, during this most recent snow event, the utility vehicle the Village utilizes for sidewalks broke down and is currently out of operation. To complete snow removal operations, staff will be utilizing a secondary utility vehicle. This secondary vehicle is slightly larger and may overhang the sidewalk slightly, potentially resulting in some damage to yards. Any damage caused by these snow removal operations will be repaired by Public Works in the spring.
Thank you for your patience and understanding. Our Public Works staff continues to work diligently to ensure sidewalks remain passable during the winter months. Please contact Public Works at 847-251-9210 with any questions or concerns.
