Whose Responsibility Is It?
Water Service Line
Per Village Code, residents are responsible for the water service line from the Village water main to their water meter. In recent years, as the Village has replaced aging water mains, it has begun taking ownership of the service line from the main to the buffalo box (b-box), while residents maintain ownership from the b-box to the water meter. If the water main connected to the service line has not been replaced since 2013, the entire service line from the main to the water meter remains the resident's full responsibility.

Sanitary Sewer Lateral
Per Village Code, residents are responsible for the sewer line from their home to the connection point with the Village's sewer line. This includes the area under publicly owned rights-of-way such as the sidewalk, parkway, and street.
